The Dutch Mix: shorts 2008 – Italian Premiere
Presented by the Art Director Aneta Lesnikovska
The International Amsterdam Film Festival (IAFF) is all about independent and innovative film, filmmakers, and artists. It is created as an open platform to present the best international work and stimulate collaboration of talents within the Dutch scene, as well as provide an exchange with the international scene. Through its selection of cutting-edge and inspiring work, IAFF will challenge audience’s imaginations and way of looking at cinema and actively promote Holland as a hub of creativity. IAFF comes out of the Resfest tradition and has built a dense network with other festivals and organizations. IAFF is a platform where high-budget films and established artists are presented shoulder-to-shoulder with cutting-edge independent productions. Nowadays artists take advantage of new tools and technologies, such as web 2.0, Open-source software, streaming video, new generation mobile phones, gaming, etc. There is a growing audience which demands more than a specialized, genre- or target based festival experience. In short, the classical film festival structure does not represent the reality of filmmaking today. IAFF addresses this necessity and creates a platform where engaging and innovative content is offered in a new framework.
The third edition of DutchMix brings together established Dutch filmmakers and a new breed of Dutch talent in a programme that offers an overview of the best work in the past year. DutchMix 2008 is proof of the diverse and strong home-grown talent out there and all of the films of this program can doubtlessly assert themselves in the international film world. IAFF is proud to continue promoting the DutchMix-selection throughout the world at our partner festivals in Europe, the US, Brazil, and Asia.
